We are currently working hard preparing for the Vargas competition this November. We are very excited to go. Only Yening and Sergio have been to this competition in the past, so it will be a great experience for all the other members. We are putting together some challenging songs, most noticeably “El Rey de La Huasteca,” but the group is pulling together and sounding better and better each rehearsal. Details are still being figured out. But we can’t wait to go!

Today, Jan. 30. I mentioned “Mariachi Veritas” in my comment to an article in Germany’s “Die Welt” titled “Wilde Geiger”. Of course I had to mention you “after” my favorites – out there at the end of the world in “Zapata County Texas” – the Vargas Extravaganza Winners of 2007 – the “Mariachi Halcon Zapata High School” – I have been “mentioning” their youtube video of the winning performance in several publications and nations. In that “campaign” I also mentioned it in Y&Y’s home turf – Beijing. I am not a writer, not a musician, not from the Americas – but I “ride” with “music latina” because I have good taste and for romantic-sentimental reasons.
