Gearing up for the Fall

Members of Mariachi Veritas are assembling from all around the world, like a gang of super-heroes, uniting in seemingly unimportant Cambridge, MA. After spending their summers as far as the furthest corners of Brazil, our favorite musicians are getting back together for the start of a new school year and much more mariachi. Look for them at the activities fair, where they will need to come up with a slight miracle to fill all the spots left by the ridiculously talented seniors who are now deeply regretting not having failed all of their finals to stay on for an extra year with MV.

Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza

We are currently working hard preparing for the Vargas competition this November. We are very excited to go. Only Yening and Sergio have been to this competition in the past, so it will be a great experience for all the other members. We are putting together some challenging songs, most noticeably “El Rey de La Huasteca,” but the group is pulling together and sounding better and better each rehearsal. Details are still being figured out. But we can’t wait to go!

An Unexpected Reunion

This summer, as I spent an unexpectedly huge amount of time in lab, I was so surprised to get an email from Bea asking if I wanted to play ball with them. “Wait, Bea is in town?!” I thought to myself. I wasn’t able to join them for bball, because I didn’t get out of lab until late, but I went to see them for a bit. Bea was in Boston visiting Nate.

But it gets better, I get an email saying that Adam is visiting and staying with Kevin. Before I knew it, all five of Mariachi Veritas ’08 was there before my eyes. I could barely contain my excitement. It was amazing seeing them all together again. It was the first time since they graduated that all five of them have been together.

The night was filled with laughter and great stories. We miss you guys.
