The group has done recordings before, but it was in a studio at school. The results weren’t very flattering, at least that’s what I was told. So after school ended in May ’08, Mariachi Veritas set out to record a few of our favorite songs. We went to a recording studio in Cambridge in search of some professional assistance. We were ambitious. We wanted to get as many songs recorded as possible. We paid for the entire day and we were going to get all that we could out of it.
In the end, we recorded 10 songs. (Most of the songs that you hear in our music page were recorded that day.) We recorded the chorus as well. For many, it was their first time in a recording studio. We spent more than 12 hours that with each other. There were times when tensions started building. People were tired. It’s not easy to play songs over and over again. I felt nervous after messing up a few times. Because with each screw up, the whole group had to just start over. But it was a great experience. I hope that this is something I can do again before I graduate.
